Mantua Twp, NJ – Child Killed in Fatal Accident on NJ-55New Jersey Legal News
Mantua Twp, NJ (October 10, 2019) – On Wednesday, October 9th, police responded to the scene of a fatal accident involving an intoxicated driver and a child who passed away at the scene.
According to authorities, a 1-year-old girl was killed in the accident and her father was charged with vehicular homicide. He has since been identified as 34-year-old Leroy Iglesia, who was intoxicated at the time of the collision. The child, identified as Elowen Iglesia, died at the scene of the accident.
The crash took place around 2 p.m. when Iglesia was driving southbound and his minivan ran off the side of the road, where it struck two trees. It then came back onto the road and came to a rest on the highway.
Police are not sure if the child was properly restrained. At this time, police continue their investigation into the accident.
