Jersey City, NJ – Police Officer Injured in Pedestrian Crash on Bayview AvenueNew Jersey Legal News
Jersey City, NJ (June 11, 2019) – On Saturday, a police officer was injured in a pedestrian crash that took place at Bayview Avenue and the Martin Luther King Jr. Drive around 12:50 a.m.
The accident took place when police originally responded to the report of a man brandishing a gun. Officers spotted a man identified as Anthony Peterson flee the scene. One of the officers got out of his vehicle and ran after Peterson on foot.
According to reports, one of the officers remained in the car and put it into reverse, not knowing that one of the officers was behind the car. The other officer was struck along with Peterson. They suffered injuries.
Police confirmed that Peterson and the other officer were brought to the Jersey City Medical Center for treatment. Peterson remains in critical condition at this time,
The investigation into the accident is ongoing at this time.
