Fairfield, NJ – DUI Accident with Injuries on Route 46 Leads to ArrestNew Jersey Legal News
Fairfield, NJ (July 28, 2019) – On Thursday, a DUI accident took place on Route 46 that led to the arrest of one person who attempted to flee the scene after it occurred.
The man who caused the accident, identified as 43-year-old Jason Struss, was arrested for obstruction, resisting arrest, assault by auto, DUI, and more.
The accident took place around 9:23 p.m. and involved two vehicles, a 2008 Mazda and a 2019 Nissan that flipped over.
Police attended to an unidentified 36-year-old female from Newark who had been operating the Mazda. She was transported to the St. Joseph’s Medical Center for treatment of her injuries. The driver who flipped the vehicle had fled the scene, who was later identified as Struss when police caught up to him.
Police took Struss for evaluation at the hospital due to the impact of the accident and claimed that he smelled like alcohol when police found him.
The investigation continues at this time.
