Fair Lawn, NJ – Couple Injured in DUI Crash on River Rd

Fair Lawn, NJ (March 22, 2020) – A man from Butler, New Jersey was reportedly driving under the influence when he struck another vehicle in Fair Lawn on Friday, March 13th. William Bateson, 37, was traveling south in a 1999 Acura on River Road near Fair Lawn Avenue when he rear-ended a 2014 Mercedes at around 11:30 a.m. Bateson appeared to be under the influence and was taken into custody following the crash. 

The 46-year-old man driving the Mercedes and his female passenger, 48, both complained of neck pain after the collision. Bateson was transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment of sustained injuries. He was charged with multiple counts, including two counts of assault by automobile, being under the influence of drugs while driving, reckless driving, careless driving, and DWI. 

An ongoing investigation into the crash is currently in progress.
