Boonton, NJ (March 9, 2019) – Police say that a school bus accident took place involving multiple children and led to various injuries to those involved yesterday afternoon, March 8th.
The accident allegedly caused the bus to bring down a utility pole and then crash into a cemetery fence at the intersection of Birchwood Lane and Valley Road.
At the time, police report that the bus was carrying 18 students, six of whom were taken to a local hospital. The driver was also injured and taken to another hospital.
Police say that the students are expected to be okay but they could not confirm the driver’s condition.
The accident took place when the bus left the Rockaway Valley Elementary school, which is when it veered off the roadway almost immediately down the road. The students were taken off the bus and transported onto another bus, then taken back to the school.
Police are not sure what caused the driver to crash but they are looking into the accident.
